Seattle–the evening we arrived

Just back from the best Mexican meal we’ve ever had. Found a great and very popular cantina 5 mins walk from the hotel. Hotel is in a great location, a couple of minutes walk from the bus into town. Very comfortable with freshly brewed, good coffee available all day. Should we just stay at the hotel for the day to have good coffee?

The flight from LA to Seattle was in a small plane, 2 seats on either side of the central isle, so of course one of us had the window seat. Thanks Gill. The ride was very smooth and it was clear for most of the way and we had some great views. We were surprised to see a lot of IMG_20160603_152604mountains with snow, hadn’t really thought about what we expected. There were some individual mountains that stood up a bit like Mt Fuji. IMG_20160603_151621IMG_20160603_164351Seattle has a great link train service from the airport to the city and we used it for one long stop, then changd to the bus that dropped us off at the stop mentioned above.

It’s now 9:30 and starting to get dark. Time for a shower and a good sleep. Tomorrow we pick up a hire car for the day and will visit the Boeing factory, north of Seattle, for a tour, then back to the northern edge of town to look at wooden boats and the general maritime area, then on a boat for a 3:30 cruise through a lock, past houses on water and back to the wharf in the western edge of town. Public bus back to the start of the one way cruise then back to the hotel and drop the car back the following morning.

Things are feeling pretty good and impressions of Seattle are good already.

    1. Thanks Tony, Pikes market when we get back from the cruise and we drove down the middle of the road so cars could go either side of us.

  2. Glad you are enjoying your trip so far. I wanted to see Seattle but didn't make it.
Cruise itinerary looks good - fond memories for us. Juneau is the capital of Alaska and tiny!

Why do I have to sign in to Google (or something else) to post comments?? Not sure if you will get multiple posts as I try to fight through avoiding and then giving in to this.
